Exclusive News: Rangers Join Superleague Formula
Posted by Mike on 20 March, 2008

After much rumour and speculation, we are very proud to announce that Scottish Premier League leaders, Rangers FC, are to take their place on the grid for the inaugural season of Superleague Formula.
Rangers have won more major trophies than any football club in the world… and now the first UK-based club to join ‘the beautiful race’ have their sights set on success on the race track!
The Glasgow-based club are set for a UEFA Cup quarter final clash against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday 3 April, and will also be the sole Scottish representative on the Superleague Formula grid.
On the domestic front, SPL leaders Rangers are currently riding the crest of a wave following their victory against Dundee United in the CIS Insurance Cup Final on Sunday, and their Scottish Cup quarter-final draw against Partick at Ibrox Stadium last night.
“We are very honored to be offered the chance to join these great clubs in a totally new sporting endeavour – a project which will not only promote Rangers further across the world but also provide an income stream for the club,” said said Rangers Chief Executive, Martin Bain.
“The club will benefit greatly from its involvement through sponsorship, television and spectator revenues. It is a win-win situation for us – it introduces the passion of the Rangers brand to a whole new range of fans, our current fans can follow our colours with pride in an entirely different sport and we can introduce new corporate support for the club.
“The club is proud to represent Scotland in European football, and we will be looking forward to doing the same against some of the biggest names in world football in an entirely new sport.”
We’ll have more on this breaking news in the next few hours but, for now, a warm SF welcome to all Rangers fans!

Hi everyone,
This is a fantastic Idea and I am sure many of my fellow Rangers fans will be excited about this. I just want to say that the car looks fantastic in the clubs livery and to all the other teams out there I would like to say “WE WELCOME THE CHASE”, or in modern speak “EAT MY DUST!”
Three cheers for the red, white and blue!

Just a thought. Is there any plans to bring the racing circuit to the cities in which the clubs are based? That would really drive interest and would make for a fantastic spectacle, although I understand the logistics would be enormous.

Will this be getting TV coverage anywhere?
